One thing that everyone knows about London buses is that however long you wait for one, there’ll be another right behind it. And here we are, on the one right behind.

And what a week this one was – not so great in the real world, of course, but hear in the tent, we saw some previously big-hitters eliminated and every single one would’ve survived if only they’d chosen the right captain. In 3 cases, that right captain was Salah, in 1 case, selecting Kane would’ve done it – I know, I know, after all I’ve said – let’s hope that making him captain tomorrow is as misguided as it has been in the past.

Anyway, that’s more than enough for you, I’ve got our Christmas decorations to get up – we’ve got 2 trees this year for some reason. Oh, and, by the way, the update for Week 15 won’t happen until Thursday next week.

Here we go, then:

Week 14

Average Score: 45.26 (43 participants) – overall competition average 47

Highest Score: 71 – overall competition high score 126

Overall Competitors: 5,437,641 (an increase of 26,011 over last week – slightly up on last week’s increase, which I simply don’t get.)

Eliminated This Week:

With 25 points: Horse & Jockey FC (Richard Taylor)
Gameweek Rank:
5,315,577
Key Selections:
Captain – Morata (Chelsea) : 1=2 – successful alternatives: 1 (Salah : 13)
The 9 other players scored 10 between them.
Bench
Nothing would’ve helped.

With 28 points: Anything But Crouch (Steve Dellar)
Gameweek Rank:
5,203,343
Key Selections:
Captain – Morata (Chelsea) : 1=2 – successful alternatives: 2 (Salah and Jesus : 5)
7 other players scored 5 between them
Bench
Nothing would’ve helped.

With 29 points: Inter Moretaine (James Frankland)
Gameweek Rank:
5,112,303
Key Selections:
Captain – Aguerro (Man City) : 2=4 – successful alternatives: 1 (Salah)
The 9 other players scored 12 between them
Bench
Nothing would’ve helped.

With 29 points: Sing When Winning FC (Paul Smyth)
Gameweek Rank:
5,112,303
Key Selections:
Captain – Aguerro (Man City) : 2=4 – successful alternatives: 2 (Sterling : 9 and Kane : 6)
The 8 other players scored 10 between them
Bench
Playing Foster (WBA) : 2 instead of Gomes (Watford) : 0 would’ve done it.

 Surviving this week:

Athacad (Tony Baines) : 30 (gross 42)
Choktaw Bingo (Andrew Taylor) : 31
Unknown xi (Peter Whiteley) : 31 (gross 39)

Top Scorer:

With 71 points : Virginia Horns (Richard Holmes)
Gameweek Rank:
172,388
Key Selections:
Rooney (Everton) : (C) 15=30 (chapeau for that – heck of a call)
Ramsey (Arsenal) : 10
Sterling (Man City) : 9
4 others scored 2 between them (GK & 3 Defenders, but when you’ve got your Captain call that right …)

So we are now down to 39 players going into Week 15, meaning that our last week of multiple eliminations is still scheduled for Week 21.

Just to reiterate what I said earlier, the Week 15 update will be later than usual.
