I refer, of course, to the quality of punditry aimed in our direction since Sunday – with the notable exception of Messrs Jenas and Wright.

A dishonourable mention ought to go here to Lineker, G whose level of ignorance would have brought an appreciative nod from a busy Twitter user the other side of the Atlantic, while Martin Samuels contribution to the debate in the Daily Fascist frankly didn’t surprise anybody.
The fall out to the sacking even extended to the fantasy world where we lost one of our Silva related names, Adam Isaacs rebranding his team with a cricket related theme – just as well the board didn’t pull the plug last month, then; goodness knows where he would have gone.  Strictly! perhaps – McGee’s Marvels! Yes!! Oh.

And my NFL team followed up last week’s Miracle in Minnesota with a, not untypical, Pratfall in Pennsylvania.  So, all in all, Sunday was an interesting day.

But imagine my delight when I looked at the scores from this week and, oh yeah, baby, 60 big points! And that was with Lloris as Captain (and Gomes as my backup keeper), but at least my VC was Davies of Spurs (8=16).  And I’m no longer bottom of the Head-to-Head league, no siree!  OK, now joint bottom, but that’s still (technically) position 21 rather than 22, so completely comfortable.

As far as the competition’s survivors were concerned it was an oddly low scoring week not helped by Liverpool last night, while those who had bought into Roy’s Palace revival act got a nasty shock.

Anyway, let’s have a look shall we?:

Week 24

Average Score: 52.63 (16 participants) – overall competition average 50

Highest Score: 77 – overall competition high score 131

Overall Competitors: 5,711,412 (an increase of 27,212 – of course)

Eliminated This Week:

With 39 points: Heaving Binbags (Ash Peters)
Gameweek Rank:
Key Selections:
Captain – de Bruyne (Man City) : 6=12 – successful alternatives: 0
7 others scored 13 between them
Nothing would’ve helped.

Surviving this week:

Holgate Hornets (Matthew Smith) : 43 (for the 2nd week in a row)
Cupid Stunts (Antony Stunt) : 44
Fairfielders (Avi Govind) : 45
Athacad (Tony Baines) : 46

So 15 players going into Week 25 which is midweek after the FA Cup 4th round.
